  The task The following pie charts show the results of a survey into the most popular leisure activities in the United States of America in 1999 and 2009. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Step 1: seeing the big picture The first step is to identify the main points of the two charts. FCE writing : Transactional letter

The first question in Paper 2 of the First Certificate in English (FCE) Exam is one that all candidates have to answer. This is the transactional letter – the word transactional simply means that it is a response to a letter or email and some notes. I’ve found it helpful to give  a checklist to go through when you  write your  answer in the exam, and to give you key vocabulary for the types of reply you may need to write.
